Most travel sites give you a directory: hotels, restaurants, things to do. That's useful, but it doesn't tell you how a city actually works.

Vámonos Amigo is built around the questions travelers really ask. Which neighborhood should I stay in? How do I get from the airport without getting ripped off? Is it safe to walk at night? Where do locals eat? What's overrated?

Like having a local friend

The best advice is the kind a friend gives you. That's what we're collecting:

• Skip the taxi stand outside the terminal. Use the official counter inside.
• Everyone goes to the famous place. The one three blocks away is where I'd take you.
• Go to this neighborhood around 6 PM, walk these three streets, have a drink here and dinner there.
• Sunday is actually the best day to do this.
